an aside
Ive been reading and looking at photos of spectres and glories and in particular the spectre of brocken which occurs when well...here i will steal someone elses words:
"A spectre of the Brocken occurs when the observer casts his or her shadow on a wall of fog. (The) fog has no smooth (real) surface, so that it causes three-dimensional pictures which move in a spooky way by the waving of the fog, although the observer does not move at all.
Sometimes there forms a colourful, annular optical phenomenon around the "head" of the spectre of the Brocken, which is called a glory. This glory is caused by backward scattering and diffraction of the sunrays by the very small fog droplets. The rays of light become diverged by the small round droplets into a pattern of concentric circles."

Started shooting for a travel show. Got a few fun photos to show from China but I am out the door to Russia (so stoked) so this will be it for now!

Olafur Eliasson
I got to see this great exhibit at the MOMA in New York by Olafur Eliasson. Amazing art peices involving light and shadows that feel kind of like beautiful science experiments. The show is split between the MOMA and PS1, but we didnt make it to PS1. Its weird taking photos in art galleries of art works, like the hundreds of people walking around taking pics on their cell phone cameras of every picture thats sounds important. That being said here are a couple I took while in Olafur Eliasson's "Take Your Time" installations.

jesse james
Ive been really loving the film "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" and I got a chance to see it on a big screen at UofT the other day. I am so glad because I missed it when it was first out and it is so beautiful. It is shot by cinematographer Roger Deakins, and is incredibly good looking. If you like slow, subtle ,insanely nice looking movies you should watch it.
When Jesse James died they put his body on ice and toured it around. A few pictures were taken that you could aparently buy like souvenirs. I want to find one.

Farm hands
Went out to nowhereville ontario to shoot a fun little film a couple of weeks ago. Here are a couple of shots I grabbed of Dan Werb from the band Woodhands - who played a really fun show last week! and Holly Prazoff, a funny fun times comedian...or rather comedienne - they both act in the movie. My friend Vivieno Caldinelli directed it...it was a good laugh

sock stalk
cat photos usually result from being inside for too long and these are no exception. I was recently staying with my bro and his family out in the burbs and one day the kid had to put all her socks in pairs and make a pile of ones that didnt fit anymore. well soon after that the cat with the half tail started taking these socks and distributing them around the house, which totally cracked me up. I started taking photos of these little sock bundles but soon the cat started coming and posing with every sock I tried to take a photo of
